Fall Color - Fungus And Leaves

Trees Offer Fall Colors

Colors from More than Leaves

100_1347Pondview Park, Kettering City Parks

Took a walk through a park near us today and found the most interesting growths on trees and downed logs in the woods. I know enough to know that they are a fungus of some sort.  So since I do not know the names of these,  if anyone can identify them, I would be grateful.

This log was ten feet long, and covered with this.

This one was 8” in diameter and four inches high.  Quite beautiful.

Of course, I had to look up some too.

I took this opportunity to reflect.  It was a good day.

So, please help identify these fungi – leave a comment so we all can learn.  Thanks.

Sorry, can't identify any fungi. We have lots in our backyard, in part because we took down a big old siver maple but left the roots and stump in the ground.
